Folk-legend Woody Guthrie wrote the lyrics to this song, but it remained unrecorded for decades, until Guthrie’s daughter offered it to British folk musician Billy Bragg.
Bragg teamed with the American folk band Wilco to record not only this song, but an entire album of Guthrie compositions. The album is Mermaid Avenue.
